2017年5月26日上午10:00，中南大学青年科技工作者协会、中南大学材料学院青年科协联合材料学院研究生会举办的青年学术沙龙第224场在化学楼210顺利举行，本次报告主讲人为Monash大学聂剑锋教授，材料科学与工程学院梁叔全院长、郑子樵教授、江勇教授等师生到场参加。

本次报告的主题为“The Role of Electron Microscopy in the Understanding of Precipitation in Light Alloys”。聂教授首先向大家展示了在研究2系铝合金中析出相时的传统TEM照片，说明了这种方法的局限性，其并不能表征析出相与基体间界面上的有关信息。随后，聂教授结合自己和他人的科研成果，分别以Al-Cu、Al-Cu-Sn、Al-Cu-Mg-Ag、Al-Mg-Si-Cu等合金为例，利用透射电镜原子序数像、3DAP等高端表征手段对强化相的化学成分和结构进行研究。另外，对于Mg合金，聂教授也给出了很多出色地研究成果，突出了新型透射电镜技术在研究析出相中的优点。最后，聂教授与在场的师生对科研问题进行激烈的讨论，学生们也从讨论中学到了很多，整场报告取得了很好的效果。

Jian-Feng Nie is a professorof Department of Materials Science and Engineering of Monash University,Australia. He obtained PhD from Monash University in 1993. After two years of postdoc fellowships in The University of Queensland and former CSIRO Division of Materials Technology, he returned to Monash to continue his research career. His research interests include design and development of metallic materials for structural and biodegradable applications, processing–microstructure-property relationships, solute segregation and its effects on properties, and applications of advanced electron microscopy techniques. He published 1 book(Light alloys: metallurgy of the light metals, Elsevier, 2017), 1 book chapter(in Physical Metallurgy, Elsevier, 2014), and over 150 journal papers. He also edited proceedings of several international conferences on advanced materials and processes. He is editor of Metallurgical and Materials Transactions. He is recipient of several awards, including Marcus AGrossmann Young Authors Award of ASM International, Changjiang Scholar, One-Thousand Talent Professor, and AIME Champion H. Mathewson Medal Award of TMS.
